Treatments

Osteopathic treatments are holistic in nature and aim to build on the health of the individual while simultaneously seeking the source of the dysfunction and treating it. Practitioners view the body from a global, local and focal perspective, and take into consideration the effects of organs, hard and soft tissue, vasculature and lymphatics on superficial, intermediate and deep levels. Treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual based upon assessment.

Initial Assessment and
Osteopathic Treatment

  • A 45-minute session encompassing a detailed review of the patient’s health history, current concerns, how osteopathic treatment can be of assistance, clinic protocols, patient questions, and in most cases an initial osteopathic assessment and treatment.

  • An initial treatment may be deferred to a follow-up session should the health history be extensive and require more focused time for review.

Follow-Up
Osteopathic Treatments

  • Treatments are based upon assessment and the needs of the body on the day of the appointment. In general, acute cases are treated in shorter duration (10 minutes), while treatment for maintenance or chronic concerns are generally 20 - 25 minutes long.

  • When needed, a 45-minute treatment may be recommended by your practitioner.

Benefits of Osteopathy

Through gentle manual manipulation, the goal is to reposition the body to encourage health and remove restrictions, allowing for an environment where self-healing and self-regulation can occur.  Most often, this can allow individuals to experience improvement in:

  • Functional Movement

  • Musculoskeletal Pain Reduction

  • Quality of Sleep

  • Chronic or Acute Injuries

  • Posture and Balance

  • Gastrointestinal Issues

  • Headaches

  • Nerve Impingements

  • Fluid Imbalances

  • Stress Levels

Osteopathic services are not meant to replace traditional medical interventions and practitioners do not diagnose or treat specific medical (allopathic) conditions. If you have a medical concern, please see your doctor.

Osteopathy can be a complementary therapy to one’s additional health care needs.
